Four home victories were achieved in tonight´s second leg matches of the LEN Trophy quarter-finals, but only one club finally enforced a comeback. RN Savona, the current leader of the Italian league, gained a 10-8 victory against the Hungarian representative FTC Budapest in a real nailbiter to wipe out the 7-8 loss in the away match. Head coach Claudio Mistrangelo´s players ensured the semi-final berth by scoreless final period after three goals for Montenegrin international Mlađan Janovic in the three periods before. Two other clubs advanced to the semi-finals for the first time in history.

After a heavy loss by five goals in the away match, France champion CN Marseille was close to a comeback, but the Italian guests of three-time cup winner “Brixia” Leonessa Brescia kept their loss down to four goals and the survived the away match. Marseille´s French international Frédéric Audon led the scorers list in a game with 13 scorers on both sides.

Montenegrin representative VA Cattaro had the easiest job of the day. After victory by four goals in the first leg match against their Croatian counterpart Primorje “Erste Banka” Rijeka, the score of tonight´s match was levelled before the final period, 6-6. Primorje still won by two goals, 9-7, but the guests from Kotor made it to the semi-finals in their second European Cup season.

Romanian champion CSM “Frigoconti” Oradea was close to their historical first semi-final appearance, when the players from the Bihor region led German powerhouse Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 by four goals before the last swim-off, 8-6.
