Fyfe Adelaide Jets´ Martin hits 300th NWPL goal in victory over Hunter

In Australia Matthew Martin reached the scoring pantheon of 300 National Water Polo League goals in nearly 160 matches at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre last night.
The 11-year veteran for the Fyfe Adelaide Jets reached the mark when he scored three goals in the Jets´ 9-7 success over Hunter Hurricanes.

Martin has been an integral part of the Jets fabric and his haul was enough to give him 301 goals in 159 matches. The news was good for the Jets women, as well, beating the Hurricanes 11-10 in a gritty effort.

In Brisbane, KFC Queensland Breakers repulsed Sealevel Cronulla Sharks men 9-8, proving there is little between seventh and 12 place. The third-ranked Breakers women downed seventh-placed Cronulla 9-4.

In Sydney, Balmain Tigers and the UNSW teams split their games, UNSW Wests Magpies winning 10-7 while the Balmain women held off a late-charging UNSW Killer Whales 10-9. The No 2 Balmain women were always in control despite the persistence of the No 4 Killer Whales.

In Perth, Fremantle Mariners men were lucky to retain their “unbeaten  status with an 8-all draw with Sydney University Lions. The Lions always trailed the Mariners but struck with two goals inside the final two minutes with the leveller coming from James Young on a drive on James Fannon with 44 seconds remaining.
The Longmont Fremantle Marlins women were untroubled with an 18-2 margin over the Lions with Zoe Arancini piercing the goal six times.
