Olympic champion Italy is currently holding a practice camp in Rome to prepare for the difficult FINA Olympic Games Qualification Tournament to be held in February 2008 in Trieste, Italy. Six of 16 players nominated by head coach Mauro Maugeri already won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, but there will also be quite a number of younger faces. The core of the current team is coming from the top clubs “Geymonat” Orizzonte Catania and Fiorentina Waterpolo, which will provide a total of eleven players.
