After the missed qualification for the the Final Four of the Women´s European Champions Cup, the reigning Greek champion ANC Glyfada decided to stop co-operation with the three foreign players of the team. US international Lauren Wenger, best player of the 2007 FINA World Championships and the two Germans Nina Wengst and Theresa Klein have now left Greece because the club decided to make financial cutbacks implying the moderate performance of the players.

This happened before the play-offs of the Greek league, in the middle of the season. It is regarded as a blow for the prestige of the club and Greek women´s waterpolo in general. Moreover, the board of the team has reached a consensus to propose a one third reduction off the first class Greek players´ earnings to stay on the team, until the end of the season. Finally, the goalkeeper of the Greek national team, Maria Tsouri decided to reject this offer and left the team.
